The Irish Craft Industry Report

The Irish Craft Industry Report details research carried out by the Crafts Council of Ireland into the challenges facing the various sectors of the Irish craft industry.

Craft is all about detail and that is what the design of this report highlights. A horizontal panel is used as a graphic device throughout the 56‑page report to showcase Irish craft and to lead the reader onwards. On the cover, four close-up images of Irish craft hint at what is to come. Every four pages throughout the main body of the report, a standout craft piece is featured on a striking rich black background, blurred apart from four in-focus squares – echoing the cover design – which invite the reader to focus in on detail.

The first of two reports designed for the Crafts Council of Ireland, this is one of the earlier design projects undertaken but still a firm favourite. It proves how timeless and lasting great design can be.
